Ann and Richard
Ann and Richard took over Beara Farmhouse and The Old Shippon a few short years ago after 'retiring' to North Devon from Essex. Richard, a carpenter/joiner by trade, saw its enormous potential and has spent his time restoring the buildings.
The Old Shippon, though attached to Beara Farmhouse, was a hollow shell when Ann and Richard took it over. Using old floorboards and other materials from the original buildings, Richard has created a home away from home in The Old Shippon. His attention to detail is second to none, one cannot fail to be impressed by his work. |

While Richard was doing all that, Ann was busy with the interior decor of the Farmhouse and the gardens. She also spends her time painting - inspired by the surrounding countryside, she only took up the hobby after moving to North Devon. Her country scenes and oil paintings of The Old Shippon are very popular with guests and make ideal souvenir reminders of your stay in North Devon. Richard makes the frames.
